Cultural Resource Surveys: Antenna Farm Annex, Plum Hill/Mars Communication Annex, Middle Marker Easement, ILS Outer Marker Annex, Scott Air Force Base, St. Clair County, Illinois

Summary

In 2015, Scott Air Force Base planned to release and sell four parcels of land formerly used as radio communication facilities that had become obsolete and no longer supported Scott Air Force Base's mission. Areas included the Antenna Farm, Radio Relay Annex, Plum Hill/MARS Communication Annex, Middle Marker Easement, and the Outer Marker Annex. Baer Engineering and Environmental Consulting, Inc. was contracted to perform an archaeological survey of these areas prior to the land sale. Results of this survey are summarized in this report.

The archaeological survey indicated that the proposed federal undertaking will have no effect on archaeological sites that could be considered eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. No further archaeological investigations are recommended.
