Author(s): Christopher Ryan

Year: 2017

Summary

This document is a SYBCI transmittal letter to the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians for the B7, B10, and K5 Feeder Lines Replacement Project (Project). Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB) determined that the Project was an undertaking subject to compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended, and would comply with Section 106 using the implementing regulations [36 CFR Part 800]. With this letter and its attachment (Identification of Historic Properties: B7, B10, K5 Feeder Lines Replacement), VAFB initiated consultation with the Tribe regarding potential impacts to cultural resources. VAFB delineated the are of potential effects (APE) and carried out a reasonable and good faith effort to identify historic properties within the APE. The attached report describes the proposed project and provides details about the site. The letter requests written views from the Tribe regarding the project via either letter or e-mail.
