Summary

In compliance with Air Force Instruction 90-2002, Air Force Interactions with Federally-Recognized Tribes, Cavalier Air Force Station (CAFS) conducted its first annual tribal relationship-building meeting on September 13, 2017, in Grand Forks, North Dakota. This meeting was focused on creating ongoing relationships between CAFS and tribal governments, beyond consultation dialogues that take place regarding the potential for adverse effects on cultural and natural resources by CAFS proposed actions. It sought to provide an introduction to the mission and scope of CAFS for the tribes, and to gather information from the tribes on their interests and concerns, and how best to develop the relationships between CAFS and each of the tribes. This document includes a summary of the actions taken prior to the meeting, the presentations and discussions at the meeting, and the outcomes and directions for future meetings and tribal relationship-building.
