Archaeological Survey of the Schriever Air Force Base Restricted Area, El Paso County, Colorado

Author(s): Mark Owens

Year: 2021

Summary

The survey was conducted to inform future cultural resources compliance decisions within the Restricted Area (RA) and to assist in the development and production of a disturbed area map to supplement the contents of a future Programmatic Agreement for Section 106 compliance.

The project effort included background research and an intensive landform- and site-level survey. This survey located and evaluated four cultural resources: two road segments, a pioneer ditch, and a previously recorded stock watering area. National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility recommendations are presented, along with appropriate management recommendations for each cultural resource. After post-field assessment and archival evaluation, none of the project cultural resources are recommended individually National Register of Historic Places (NRHP)-eligible. The road segments do not contribute to the significance of their larger parent resources.
