Author(s): Sarah H. Berry

Year: 1988

Summary

An archaeological survey was conducted for the Santa Ynez Raw Waterline project consisting of 3.5 miles of 5' deep trenches which will follow East and West Farm Roads and Terra Road from Well #5A on United States Penitentiary property in Lompoc to the Water Treatment Plant on VAFB. Seven archaeological sites and one isolate were identified during the archaeological surface survey. Three sites had been previously recorded and four new sites were temporarily designated USP-1 through USP-4. Six of the sites were prehistoric, the seventh is historic from the American Period. As the project is presently designed, the historic site and one of the prehistoric sites, SBA-687, may be impacted and further evaluations are necessary.
