Summary
This is an abstract from the session entitled "Paper / Report Submission (General Sessions)", at the 2023 annual meeting of the Society for Historical Archaeology.
A doctoral thesis is being completed on the analysis of the state of conservation of the shipwreck of the Galeão Santíssimo Sacramento (1668) in order to strengthen the Brazilian underwater cultural heritage. Although it is a particularist approach, the results seek to expose the interpretations of the shipwreck site formation process from the Muckelroy model through in loco records and videos produced during the visits to the site over 05 years. By classifying the data between mixing devices and extraction filters, it is possible to verify the permanence and alterations of the original record carried out by the non-diving archaeologist team Ulisses Pernambucano de Mello Neto and his team of divers from the Navy of Brazil (1979), between the years of 2015 and 2020, and also, some lights about its tragic maritime event.
