Summary
This is an abstract from the session entitled "Globalisation of Sino-foreign Maritime Exchange: Ocean Cultures", at the 2023 annual meeting of the Society for Historical Archaeology.
This presentation deals with an analysis model for the archaeological study of the colonial port of Acapulco with an emphasis on the temporality of the landscape, that is, that which emerges from those who, through their activities, carry out the process of social life, being intrinsic to the conformation of the landscape itself. Among the different spheres that the model considers, we will discuss the material culture related to the sphere denominated “market” which consists of an abundant collection of Chinese Porcelain that permits us to identify the place and time span of this activity in the port in the XVI and early XVII century.
