Summary
This is an abstract from the session entitled "Global Materialities: Tracing Connections through Materiality of Daily Life", at the 2023 annual meeting of the Society for Historical Archaeology.
This paper will discuss examples of how Portuguese immigrants, particularly from the Azores, have shaped the economic and cultural fabric of the San Francisco Bay Area, with reference to dairy farming, off shore whaling and lime production.
