Summary

The U.S. Air Force contracted Argonne National Laboratory to complete HAER Level II documentation for the proposed demolition of Building 1909, a contributing element of the McGuire BOMARC-SAGE Historic District at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Hanover Township, Burlington County, New Jersey. The study was completed in accordance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and National Park Service guidelines. Building 1909, the SAGE Cooling Tower, was a 41'-9" tall, reinforced-concrete, induced-draft cooling tower divided into three cells and constructed in 1956. The documentation includes a historic report, photograph contact sheets of the facility, and architectural drawings.
