Summary

The surveys were conducted on land administered by White Sands Missile Range for the U.S. Army. A total of 620 acres was surveyed in the Red Rio area, yielding 1 archaeological site and 26 isolated occurrences. A total of 1,910 acres was survey in the Oscura area, yielding 3 archaeological sites and 32 isolated occurrences. The sites can

potentially contribute to our knowledge of prehistoric settlement patterns, land use, material culture, and culture history of the northern Tularosa Basin and southern Chupadera Mesa.
