Summary
The Aeromedical Complex at Holloman AFB is associated with important programs at Holloman AFB including: Space Biology studies of subgravity, an essential step that led to development of manned space flight; Project Man High, a “Man in Space” program studying the effects of cosmic radiation on humans; biodynamic studies of escape physiology that led to the development of escape systems for pilots and astronauts; crash studies resulting in the installation of automobile restraint systems in military vehicles and later personal cars and trucks; and hardware and procedure testing in advance of Mercury and Apollo space missions.
