Summary

This historic context study contributes to the development of a Cultural Resources Management Plan (CRMP) for the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) in Colorado. It encompasses the geographic boundaries of USAFA, incorporating all phases of Euro-American settlement. Indigenous and prehistorical contexts are being covered separately by a research team at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Department of Anthropology. This study is intended to be used to establish evaluation criteria for all resource types and to place them in an appropriate regional, national, or international context related to one or more of the following themes: politics and the department of the Air Force; local history and geography; architectural expression; or education.
