Summary
This document is a report that summarizes archaeological field mitigation and monitoring on sites SBA-939, 513, and 1853. These studies include excavation of nine trenches at SBA-939, and monitoring the digging of a fiber optics cable trench through all three sites. As part of the Peacekeeper Program on VAFB, fiber optics cables were installed along a main corridor leading from the Installation Checkout Facility (ICF) complex, near the intersection of El Rancho Road and El Rancho Oeste Road; along former Point Sal Road to Launch Facility 05 at Cinco Road. Cable installation includes a combination of trenching and direct burial, with the latter having less impact to surface assemblages.
