VAFB-1998-10: Vandenberg Air Force Base Specific Site Revisit Project August 3-26, 1998 inclusive Brief Summary
Author(s): Wilcoxon Archaeological Consultants
Year: 1998
Summary
All sites on the Discrepancy List were re-visited by a crew of four archaeologists and one BTG representative. The BTG representative accompanying the archaeological crew operated a Trimble GPS receiver backpack unit. Sites were relocated using site records, topographic maps and BTG generated maps, referred to as "Grid 46" maps. Upon reaching the general vicinity of the site, we conducted an intensive linear survey at 10 to 15 meter intervals, sweeping back and forth until artifacts described in the site record were relocated.
