VAFB-1990-20: Power Line to A/D/E Substations Surface Survey, Vandenberg Air Force Base, Santa Barbara County, California

Author(s): Sarah H. Berry

Year: 1990

Summary

This report presents the results of an archaeological surface survey conducted to evaluate the replacement of a proposed 69kV power distribution line for effect on historic properties. The study identified eleven archaeological sites and one isolate within the APE. Nine of the sites are prehistoric and two sites are historic. One of the historic sites is a trash dump, and the other an old road. Eight of the eleven sites are crossed by the power line. However, these eight sites will not be affected since the old poles will be removed and the new poles will be placed in the existing holes.
