Summary

This document is a Section 106 transmittal letter from the 30th Space Wing of the United States Air Force, Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB) to the California State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) regarding the proposed D1 Circuit Electric Line Replacement Project. The letter provides a brief description of the project and seeks concurrence for 1) the project area of potential effect (APE); and 2) numerous determinations of eligibility of National Register (NR) eligible for archaeological sites, CA-SBA-228, -512, -513, -722, -733, -740, -755/756/757, -939, -990, -1853, -1865/H, -2128H, -2352, -2471H, and -2575; 3) determinations of non-eligibility for sites CA-SBA-1866, -2164, -2565, -3036, -3288/H, -3289, -3294, -3563H, and -3565H individually or as contributing elements to San Antonio Terrace Archaeological District (SATAD); 4) the reevaluation of CA-SBA-2164 determining the site is not individually eligible for the NR, nor as a contributing element to the SATAD; 5) the assumption of the sites CA-SBA-730, -760/761/1748, -940, and -2320 as eligible for the for the current project; 6) the determination that the project will not be an adverse effect to sites CA-SBA-730, -740, -760/-761/1748, -940, -990, -1853, -2127, -2128H, -2320, and -3505; a determination that the project will be an adverse effect to CA-SBA-228, -512, -513, -939, and -941. The letter also stipulates that the archaeological sensitive areas will be adhered to and archaeological monitoring will be required at all 31 sites within the APE.
