Summary
The story of the NORAD Cheyenne Mountain Combat Operations Center (COC), the nerve center for the defense of North America during the Cold War. During the Cold War period, from March 1946 to November 1989, the free world faced the threat of a hostile Soviet Union and the specter of global nuclear war. As the Soviet Union developed nuclear weapons, strategic bomber capability, and space delivery systems, the United States and Canada joined forces to defend North America from the threat of communism. This is the story of that highly successful partnership, how it was conceived, how it was achieved, and how it evolved.
