[LET-1077] Transmittal letter to the California State Historic Preservation Officer reopening Section 106 for the B6 Power Line Project (813-19-028)
Author(s): Roscoe Loetzerich
Year: 2024
Summary
This document is a letter to the California State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO) reopening Section 106 consultation for the B6 Power Line Project. The letter addresses a realignment of ten power poles that will be placed within archaeological site CA-SBA-1565. The letter explains that four of the poles will not be installed northwest of Umbra Road, but rather along the southwestern side. The poles to be installed on the east side of El Rancho Road are being relocated to the western side of the road. All poles will reuse the holes that will result from the removal of the existing poles. Vandenberg Space Force Base argues that the reuse of these holes reduces or eliminates adverse effects to CA-SBA-1565. The base archaeologists contends and seeks concurrence from the SHPO that the original project finding of no adverse effect to historic properties remains appropriate. It is also noted that the monitoring requirements of an archaeologist and Native American monitor also remain.
