Summary

This report presents a Colorado Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation Level II Historic Resource Documentation of Buildings 429 (5AH.2340) and Building 431 (5AH.2296) at Buckley Garrison, Buckley Space Force Base, Aurora, Arapahoe County, Colorado. Buckley Space Force Base is a 3,288 acre military installation of the United States Space Force, which is a branch of the United States Department of the Air Force. Buildings 429 and 431 are in the Aerospace Data Facility, a high-security area that contains several buildings and structures that are eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places under Criterion A for their association with significant Cold War Era events, including communications and satellite tracking operations. The buildings were considered for demolition in 2019. As a result, a Memorandum of Agreement was executed with the Colorado Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation in 2021, which stipulates that Buildings 429 and 431 should be documented to Level II recording standards.
