Summary

This document is a contractor generated letter report consisting of a historic property inventory and an assessment of adverse effects associated with the Establishment of the Vulcan Launch Program. The purpose of the letter is to compile any prior or current studies performed in support of the Establishment of the Vulcan Launch Program as a single Section 106 and 100 compliance report. To support Section 106 compliance requirements, United Launch Alliance (ULA) at Vandenberg AFB retained Applied EarthWorks, Inc. (Æ) to conduct an archaeological inventory supporting the undertaking. Æ’s background research found the undertaking is near previously recorded archaeological sites CA-SBA-534, -549, -1678, -2424, -2426, -2840, and isolates VAFB-ISO-209, -389, and -390. Æ reviewed site records and excavation reports for these archaeological sites and isolates, conducted an archaeological surface survey of the six Project areas, completed an archaeological subsurface survey at the intersection of Lunar Avenue and Lunar Road, the intersection of Bear Creek and Coast Road, and Building 945 to assess whether subsurface archaeological deposits exist, and prepared a letter report documenting the effort and the results.
