VAFB-1995-13: Final Historical Eligibility Evaluation of Pillar Point Air Force Station
Author(s): Chantal Cagle
Year: 1995
Summary
This document is a Section 106 National Register of Historic Places evaluation of the Pillar Point Air Force Station. The process of evaluation of the facility for eligibility for the NRHP included an analysis of the facility's significance and integrity. Significance was assessed by creating a historic context about the Cold War, the radar, telemetry and command destruct systems of the Western Range, and the Pillar Point station's instrumentation systems themselves within which to evaluate the potential significance of the facility, using criteria established by the Air Force as a guideline. Integrity was assessed through a comparison of the instrumentation systems' original features with their present configuration.
