Summary

Chaco-McElmo Black-on-white, miniature clam shell (bivalve) bowl, Accession AZRU-00001, Catalog #992, Morris FS 4612. Analyzed by Lori Reed 2006. Temper is sand examined on the exterior base surface; bright white washy slip suggests bowl was manufactured in the Chaco Cibola region. Bowl was reconstructed with 75% original fragments and 25% unknown paster material. Measurements: 8 cm orifice diameter, 3.6 cm height. Image AZRU1-992 A: exterior view showing vessel shape. Image AZRU1-992 B: interior view showing bivalve shape. Note: perforation at top of bivalve on left side of image. Recovered from Earl Morris excavation of Kiva R, Aztec West Ruin. No published description of Kiva R available.
