Summary
Painted black-on-white, effigy arm with hand/paw (fragmentary), Accession AZRU-00001, Catalog #642, Morris FS 4632. Analyzed by Lori Reed 2006. Temper is medium quartz sand. Paste and slip look nonlocal; probably an item produced in the Chaco Cibola area. Arm fragment probably represents less than 5% of original effigy. Image AZRU1-642 A: side view of effigy arm. Image AZRU1-642 B: anterior or front view of arm showing shape of fingers or claws. Recovered from Earl Morris excavation of Kiva R, Aztec West Ruin. No published description of Kiva R available.
