Summary

Vessel from Old Shongopavi; Hopi Found below Shunhopovi at Old Shunhopovi, at Old Shunhopovi Ruin on westside of mesa. Id.8/73; Cat. EAC 8/73; Shelved with Awatovi prehistoric pottery; medium-size; rounded bases; convex side; high; sharply recurving shoulder; vertical rim; rounded lip. Clay body, compact yellow paste, with some orange fire clouds on exterior. Design around shoulder: double dark brown life line above wich are interlocking irregular meanders in light and dark brown with white paint in center of each meander element; inside rim. Four dark brown dots of paint. Pot brocken on one side of shoulder; reglued. Blach dirty smudges on inside and outside of jar. Paint slightly worn off in some places. Conditio: complete breaks reglued; restoratio: breaks above shoulder on one side reglued. 28 feb. 1986- Val Canouts (Smithsonian inst.) obtained clay sample from the base of this vessel.
