Historic Ceramic Ware Type Ontology

Summary

This is an ontology for historic ceramic ware types based on an ontology created by the Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory (MAC Lab) at the Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum (JefPat). Data comes from JefPat's Diagnostic Artifacts in Maryland website (see links below). I also consulted the Digital Archaeological Archive of Comparative Slavery (DAACS) Ceramics Cataloging Manual.

The ontology was created by Andrew Webster, a PhD student at the University of Maryland, College Park, with the permission of Patricia Samford, Director of the MAC Lab. If you would like any ware types added to this ontology, please contact Andrew Webster.

Since the ontology is based on historic ceramics found in the southeast USA, it is likely to be most useful for British-American sites.
