Goodman Site

Summary

The Goodman site is one of the sites contained within the Lake George Project begun in 1974 and lasting until 1979. The purpose of the Lake George Project was to explore prehistoric adaptations over time in the drainage boundary area separating the Hudson River from the Lake George/Lake Champlain basin. Investigation of the Goodman site occurred as a parallel investigation to the Halfway Creek site. The Goodman site consists of four loci numbered five through eight. The site was surveyed in late summer 1978 and tested in the summer of 1979. Dean Snow led the survey with the field supervision of Karen McCann. The materials found at the Goodman site suggest Archaic hunting bands were exploiting the Halfway Creek environment but there is not sufficient evidence to support a more specific hypothesis.
