Ohio River Environmental Assessment and Kanawha River Project 1977-1978

Summary

This collection is referred to as "Ohio River Environmental Assessment and Kanawha River Project 1977-1978.” This name is consistent throughout the finding aid, the file folders, and the box labels. The extent of this collection is half (0.5) of a linear inch.

The documents date from 1975 to 1978, but the reconnaissance report dates to 1977 and the Public Notice was issued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1978, which explains the dates in the investigation name. The collection contains administrative and background materials, as well as a portion of the reconnaissance report draft with handwritten edits. The documents were originally housed in an acidic folder within an acid-free box and were in good condition. Metal contaminants including staples and a paperclip were removed using a microspatula. Staple holes and any wrinkles or creases in the documents were flattened using a bone tool. Various small tears were found throughout the collection and were mended with acidfree tissue tape.

The digital materials in this collection were processed by the Veterans Curation Program (VCP), and include the finding aid, original investigation report, and scanned asset key. Additional digital materials held by the VCP include the archive database, bibliographies, correspondence, document folder listing, initial data collection, investigative summaries, maps, and notes. For additional information on these materials, refer to the finding aid.
