Beaverdam Group 1980

Summary

This collection is referred to as "Beaverdam Group 1980.” This name is consistent throughout the finding aid, the file folders, and the box labels. The extent of this collection is a half (0.50) of a linear inch.

The documents date from 1980 to 1981. The investigation occurred in 1980, which explains the project name date. The range of dates also includes administrative records. The collection was originally housed in acidic file folders in an acidic cardboard box with numerous collections from the Richard B. Russell Multiple Resource Area. The documents were originally lacking a discernible order. The documents were in good condition, through metal contaminants and folds were found throughout the collection. The metal contaminants were removed and the folds were smoothed with a bone tool.

The draft of the final report was found online at Georgia’s Natural, Archaeological, and Historic Resources Geographic Information System, (www.gnahrgis.org/). The Georgia Archaeological Site File Report Number is 6579. The report is a draft, as is noted by the stamp on the title page. A digital copy of the file was downloaded from the website and saved as part of the digital collection. The document was assigned an asset number for tracking purposes, and the report was printed on acid-free paper and inserted into the collection in a Report Records folder, (Folder 2/1.)

The digital materials in this collection were processed by the Veterans Curation Program (VCP), and include the finding aid, original investigation report, and scanned asset key. Additional digital materials held by the VCP include the archives database, correspondence, document folder listing, initial data collection, notes, progress reports, and a scope of work form. For additional information on these materials, refer to the finding aid.

Only survey level work had been conducted at 9EB208, but Taylor and Smith (1978) had indicated that the site might be a...
