The documents date to 1980. The documents were originally housed in an acidic folder in an acidic cardboard box along with numerous collections from the Richard B. Russell Multiple Resource Area. Tape was originally found on scanned asset #2038-0001 and the tape was removed by a previous technician in 2010. Acid-free mending tape was used to cover the sticky residue that was left on the document in 2010, and an attempt was made to remove the mending tape when the collection was processed in 2013. The attempt ceased, however, as the removal of tape was also removing the text from the document. Various tears were found in both documents in the collection, and these were mended with acid-free mending tape.
The digital materials in this collection were processed by the Veterans Curation Program (VCP), and include the finding aid, original investigation report, and scanned asset key. This report contains the results of the site testing program in the Richard B. Russell Reservoir, Savannah River, Georgia and South Carolina. The purpose of this program was to test a number of selected archeological sites below the 430 foot contour interval.
