Archaeological Investigations at Indian Cove (9LC24) 1985

Summary

This collection is referred to as “Archaeological Investigations at Indian Cove (9LC24) 1985.” This name is consistent throughout the finding aid, the file folders, and the box labels. The extent of this collection is one and a half (1.5) linear inches.

The documents date from 1985 to 2011. The investigation occurred in 1985, which explains the date of the project name. The range of dates includes further correspondence regarding the collection inventory and transfer. The documents were originally housed in an acidic folder and in an acidic box with no discernible order. The collection was originally housed with other Strom Thurmond Lake document collections. The final report was originally bound and the plastic binding was removed during the processing in 2012. The documents were in good condition, although various metal contaminants, wrinkles, and tears were found within the document collections. The metal contaminants were removed, the wrinkles were flattened, and the tears were mended with acid-free tissue tape. Various documents were stained from the metal contaminants, and these were cleaned gently with Absorene.

The digital materials in this collection were processed by the Veterans Curation Program (VCP), and include the artifact catalog, artifact report, finding aid, original investigation report, scanned asset key, and select artifact photographs. Additional digital materials held by the VCP include additional artifact photographs, archives database, box inventory, correspondence, document folder listing, initial data collection, and notes. For additional information on these materials, refer to the finding aid.
