Data Recovery at the Milner (22YZ515) and O'Neil Creek (22YZ624) Sites Yazoo County Mississippi
Summary
The first step in the rehousing process is to obtain copies of cultural resource reports, artifact catalog sheets, and field notes pertaining to the collections from the St. Louis District archivist processing the archival collection. Only the final report was available for this investigation.
Phase III mitigation was conducted at the Milner (22YZ515) and O’Neil Creek (22YZ624) sites to explore the sites’ potential for listing on the National Register of Historic Places before the sites were affected by the extended right-of-way for the Rocky Bayou levee project. On 30 July 1984 fieldwork began at the Milner site under the direction of Lorraine Heartfield. Fieldwork began on the O’Neil Creek site on 6 August 1984 under the direction of G. R. Dennis Price. Fieldwork was then carried out simultaneously at both sites until 19 September 1984. Both sites were located along O’Neil Creek in Yazoo County, Mississippi. For more information on this project, see the final report (Heartfield and Price 1987).
