MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS OF A SINGLE FEATURE FROM 5MN1920, COLORADO (2000)

Fill from a possible thermal feature (Feature 1) at 5MN1920 in western Colorado was floated to recover charred macrofloral remains. This feature yielded an uncalibrated radiocarbon age of 1510 +/- 70 BP (Beta-145806), suggesting occupation during the Formative Era. Macrofloral analysis is used to provide information concerning plant resources utilized by the occupants of this site.

Samples from the fill of hearth features at sites 5MF6871, 5MF6872, and 5MF6806 were examined to recover pollen, starch, and macrofloral remains. Although most of the samples were submitted earlier in the year, an additional six samples from Features 12 through 17 at site 5MF6806 were submitted later for pollen and macrofloral analysis.
