POLLEN AND PHYTOLITH ANALYSIS OF SAMPLES FROM SITES 38CH1541 AND 38CH1542, CHARLESTON COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA (2017)
Site 38CH1541, dating to the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, represents the main Mullet Hall Plantation settlement. Mullet transferred the property to James Legare, but there is little evidence of occupation postbellum. Samples from three Colonial era trash pits, two wall trenches, and four storage pits, were examined for pollen and phytoliths to inform concerning economic activities at the plantation. POLLEN AND PHYTOLITH ANALYSIS OF SEDIMENT CORES FROM RICE FIELDS AT DRAYTON HALL, CHARLESTON COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA (2016)
Two sediment cores from Drayton Hall were submitted for pollen and phytolith analysis of sediments at two depths for each core to search for evidence of rice agriculture. Core 1 was collected from the middle portion of the basin, while Core 2 represents the upper portion. A Proposal to Safely Recover the H.L. Hunley Submarine Located in Charleston, South Carolina (Legacy 00-106)
This proposal discusses the drawbacks of the then-proposed method of lifting the H.L. Hunley from its resting place through a system of straps and outlines a procedure for a mechanical device to scoop up the submarine and its supporting surrounding sediment. Wando Shipping Terminal Expansion: Archaeological Data Recovery at 38CH351, Charleston County, South Carolina (2010)
Brockington and Associates, Inc., conducted archaeological data recovery investigations at Site 38CH351 between August 20 and December 21, 2009. Four days before the Christmas of 1863, Private William Herbert of the 55th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry died of typhoid and was buried on Folly Island, South Carolina, 1,070 miles from his snow-covered home in Nova Scotia. This is the story of his final year of life as a soldier, his rediscovery by archaeologists, and his eventual reburial with at least seventeen fellow soldiers in Beaufort National Cemetery.
