EXPLORATORY POLLEN AND PHYTOLITH ANALYSIS AND CHARCOAL IDENTIFICATION AT 41CW54, SOUTHEASTERN TEXAS (1999)
A single sample was examined for pollen and phytoliths from 41CW54 to identify whether or not pollen and phytoliths were preserved and could be recovered. The sample was removed from the south bank of a drainage feature resembling a slough. A radiocarbon age of 9160 +/- 40 BP is associated with this sample. POLLEN ANALYSIS OF SEDIMENT, PHYTOLITH ANALYSIS OF CERAMIC SHERD RESIDUE, AND IDENTIFICATION OF NUTSHELLS FROM SITE 41MQ73, TEXAS (2000)
Pollen analysis of three samples from site 41 MQ73 focuses on recovery of pollen in sufficient quantity and preservation for analysis. In addition, nutshell fragments were submitted for analysis. This site is located in southeastern Texas where pollen preservation is expected to be poor. In addition, two ceramic sherds exhibiting residue were examined for their phytolith content to determine what foods might have been cooked in these vessels.
