EXAMINATION OF BULK SOIL AND CHARCOAL FROM SITES ALONG THE CONSUMNES RIVER AND THE SOUTH FORK AMERICAN RIVER, CALIFORNIA (1997)
Bulk soil samples were recovered from paleoflood study sites along the Consumnes River and the South Fork of the American River in the Sierran foothills of California. Botanic components and detrital charcoal will be identified, and potentially radiocarbon datable material will be separated.
EXAMINATION OF BULK SOIL FROM THE ROGERS CREEK FAULT, SONOMA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA (2001)
Two bulk soil samples from an exploratory trench across the Rogers Creek fault in Sonoma County, California, were floated to recover organic fragments suitable for radiocarbon analysis. These samples were collected for geologic purposes of constraining the timing of paleoseismic events on the fault. Botanic components and detrital charcoal were identified, and potentially radiocarbon datable material was separated.
EXAMINATION OF NINE BULK SOIL SAMPLES FROM RED MOUNTAIN FAULT, SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (1997)
Nine bulk soil samples were floated to recover potential charcoal for radiocarbon dating. These samples were exposed during paleoseismic investigation of the Red Mountain Fault in southern California.
EXAMINATION OF PLANT MATERIAL FROM BOLINAS LAGOON AND BODEGA HARBOR CORES, CALIFORNIA (1998)
Plant remains from Bolinas Lagoon and Bodega Harbor cores were submitted for identification prior to submission for radiocarbon dating. A small bulk sample from a Bolinas Lagoon core also was submitted for flotation and identification of datable material.

IDENTIFICATION OF WOOD FROM A PREHISTORIC BOW (2003)
A small piece of wood was removed from a prehistoric bow for the purpose of identifying the type of wood used in construction of the bow. This bow was purchased at a garage sale in California and was believed to be associated with the Chumash culture; however, the presence of a green, copper-based pigment on the bow suggests that it was from a Southwest group (Jeb Taylor, personal communication).

MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT CA-SBA-59, SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA (2002)
Eight samples recovered during monitoring at site CA-SBA-59 in Santa Barbara, California, were floated to recover macrofloral remains. Recent radiocarbon dates reflect Middle Holocene prehistoric site occupation. Macrofloral analysis will be used to provide information concerning plant resources utilized by the site occupants.
