Excavation of a series of overhangs in Emery County, Utah, known as the Cedar Siding Shelter (42EM1533) included pollen sampling. Cedar Siding Shelter is a series of overhangs located around a single, large boulder. The site ranges in age from Middle Archaic to Fremont. POLLEN ANALYSIS AT TWO FREMONT SITES IN HUNTINGTON CANYON (42EM12109 AND 42EM2095), UTAH (1987)

Fifty-six pollen samples were analyzed from sites 42EH2109 and 42EM2095 in central Utah. These sites are located approximately 100 meters apart along Highway 31 in Huntington Canyon. Located in the extreme northwestern portion of Emery County, these sites both contain evidence of Fremont occupation. Pollen analysis was undertaken to provide evidence of food processing activities, and to delineate plants that were utilized by the occupants of the sites.

Pollen and macrofloral sampling was undertaken in conjunction with archaeological mitigation during the Interstate 70 Ghost Rock Data Recovery Project in Emery County.
