Pollen and phytolith samples were removed from three components at the Ray Long Site (39FA63) in southwestern South Dakota. This site is located within an ephemeral stream sediment sequence deposited by a tributary to the Cheyenne River in Fall River County. Analysis of the pollen and phytolith remains was directed towards determining whether continued sampling would provide data concerning the paleoenvironment.
