The Cultural Resource Management Division of the Arizona State Museum conducted an intensive Class III survey and testing program for the Phase B portion of the Tucson Aqueduct. Archaeologists surveyed 3,370 ha and identified 47 archaeological sites and 8 nonsites. Site types recorded included 4 Archaic camps, 2 Hohokam villages, 6 Hohokam farmstead-field houses, 28 limited-activity sites, 4 quarries, and 3 Protohistoric sites. Of the 47 identified sites, 24 were recommended for data recovery.

A cultural resources inventory of eight de-activated Titan Missile silos was conducted by Statistical Research at the request of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District. The missile silos were dispersed throughout the greater Tucson area. Each silo consisted of approximately 10 acres. Only one silo, silo 13, contained any evidence of cultural resources. In 1986 archaeologists from the Cultural Resource Management Division of the Arizona State Museum, University of Arizona, excavated a Rillito phase Hohokam settlement that lay in the path of the Tucson Aqueduct Phase B, Central Arizona Project. The site, AZ AA:12:384, nicknamed "Fastimes," was located northwest of Tucson at the northern end of the Avra Valley, some 6,7 km southwest of the Santa Cruz River.
