Two bulk soil samples from an older Holocene river terrace along the Snake River in Idaho were floated to recover organic fragments suitable for radiocarbon analysis. Botanic components and detrital charcoal were identified, and potentially radiocarbon datable material was separated.

Seven soil samples from K088-3, an island in the Snake River, were examined for pollen and phytoliths. The purpose of this study was to recover pollen and phytolith records and assess them for their ability to reconstruct past vegetation. The samples were collected stratigraphically from depths ranging from 94 inches to the surface.
