A single bulk soil sample from along the Provo River in Utah was floated to recover organic fragments suitable for radiocarbon analysis. Botanic components and detrital charcoal were identified, and potentially radiocarbon datable material was separated.

Three samples from along rivers in northern Utah were examined to recover organic fragments suitable for radiocarbon analysis. These samples were recovered from the Deer Creek Campground on the Provo River, as well as from the Diston and Richins Properties on the Weber River. Botanic components and detrital charcoal were identified, and potentially radiocarbon datable material was separated. Charcoal from one sample was selected for AMS radiocarbon analysis.
