In February 2005 the USAF initiated project-related Section 106 consultation with SHPD, Hui Malama, and the office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA), recommending a project related archaeological monitoring program based on the project's potential to encounter significant cultural resources including human burials and buried cultural layers related to traditional Native Hawaiian land use.
