For this report attention will be directed to the earlier, technologically less sophisticated, hunter and gatherers who inhabited the Plains from about 2,000-7,000 years ago. This document contains a brief overview of those who inhabited the Plains and calls for a full investigation of the mountain refuge hypothesis.

This report discusses excavation results at two Hohokam farmsteads (AZ U:1:183 [ASM] and AZ U:1:186 [ASM]) in north Scottsdale, Arizona. Data recovery investigations identified one pithouse and several extramural features at both sites. The results of an intensive archaeological survey of 6,187 acres of Kirtland Air Force Base are reported by the Center for Anthropological Studies. A total of 983 isolated artifactual loci yielded 1,138 artifacts of either stone, pottery, glass, or metal.
