Six pollen samples were submitted for analysis from a Pueblo I pitstructure and related sediments in Canyon de Chelly National Monument, Arizona. This pitstructure had been truncated by an arroyo, but appeared to have been of "great kiva" proportions, approximating 10 m in diameter. Pollen samples were collected from a stratigraphic sequence in both archaeological and nonarchaeological deposits to provide a framework for comparison of historic and prehistoric deposits.
