Stratigraphic Record (Other Keyword)
1-4 (4 Records)
Stratigraphic samples were examined from Block 1, Unit 23 N 02E. A calibrated radiocarbon age of AD 1405 is reported at a depth of 60 centimeters, making this stratigraphic record relatively recent. Pollen analysis was undertaken to identify vegetation and changes in vegetation through time near the Terrace Ring Site.
POLLEN ANALYSIS FOR SOLOMONS CREEK SITE (36LU237), MARTIN LUTHER KING BOULEVARD EXTENSION PROJECT, WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA (2003)
The Solomons Creek Site is situated in the flood plain along the north bank of Solomons Creek in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Pollen samples were collected from three different units to provide stratigraphic records of the paleoenvironment.
POLLEN AND PHYTOLITH ANALYSIS AT 48PA2405, A MCKEAN-AGE SITE NEAR CODY, WYOMING (2003)
Stratigraphic samples were collected at 6 cm intervals through deposits of an ancient playa associated with archaeological site 48PA2405. Four strata were recorded, the lowest representing an organic mat that probably represents Pleistocene deposits, an organic silty-sand-clay level that yielded a radiocarbon age of 18,570 ± 170 BP based on organics collected between pollen samples 38 and 42, followed by fine silty sand deposits, and finally soil as the uppermost stratum. Given the early...
STRATIGRAPHIC POLLEN ANALYSIS FOR SITE BERGER XE-2736, FIELD BROOK PROJECT, SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA (2002)
The Field Brook Project involves archaeological investigations for replacement of the bridge that carries S 1015 over Field Brook in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. Excavations included five trenches, three of which were sampled stratigraphically for pollen. Upon examination of the stratigraphic sequence, two of these profiles were selected for pollen analysis (Columns 1 and 2). Stratigraphic pollen analysis was designed to provide a record of vegetation for individual levels within these...
