Five column samples recovered from midden deposits at prehistoric site CA-PLA-668 in north-central California were examined for macrofloral remains. This site contained bedrock mortars, suggesting a Late Period occupation post-dating approximately 2,000 BP. Macrofloral analysis of the midden deposits will be used to provide information concerning plant resources utilized by the site occupants.

Three sites in the Quail Ranch Data Recovery Project were selected for phytolith analysis. A total of twelve phytolith samples were examined from hearths, roasting pits, and middens to assess local vegetation and plants that might have been cooked or roasted. These sites range in age from Middle to Late Archaic.

Pollen and macrofloral samples were collected from areas of midden deposits at the Hueco Tanks State Historic Site, 41EP2, in west Texas. The site was divided into 29 archaeological localities to provide convenient units for analysis and management.
