Author(s): R.A. Varney; Linda Scott Cummings; Kathryn Puseman; Laura Buethel
Year: 2003
Summary
Nine pollen, six phytolith, and six macrofloral samples were analyzed from site 26CK3601,
Burnt Rock Spring Mound. Samples were recovered from undifferentiated midden fill encountered
in three excavation units surrounding the spring mound. These samples were evaluated for
potential local environmental information, seasonality information including seasonal rainfall
patterns, changes in the vegetation community through time, and for evidence of plant
domestication or plants exotic to the area.
