A single macrofloral sample was recovered from a thermal feature at site 42In853 in the Cross Hollow Hills Project Area, southwest Utah. This site consists of an artifact scatter and the buried thermal feature. It has been postulated that the site was used for biface reduction. Charcoal from the thermal feature yielded a 2-sigma calibrated radiocarbon age of AD 530-720 and AD 740-760 (Beta 209123). Excavation project 888M is located east of the Pecos River in southeastern New Mexico in the Mescalero Sands. The site is located within the parabolic dune setting of the sand sheet. Two thermal features, with no associated artifacts, were discovered during ground clearing activities for the preparation of a well pad.
