Summary
Phytolith analysis was conducted on samples from eight archaeological sites along US
Highway 491 in western New Mexico. Analysis was undertaken to provide information concerning
both the past environment and subsistence activities at these testing phase sites that varied in age
from approximately 4490 BC until AD1670/1950.
