POLLEN AND STARCH ANALYSIS OF FILL FROM A HEARTH, SITE 5MF6175, NORTHWESTERN COLORADO (2006)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Linda Scott Cummings. R.A. Varney. Jaime Dexter.

Two fill samples from a hearth at site 5MF6175 in northwest Colorado were submitted for pollen and starch analysis. The site is believed to have been occupied during the Archaic Era, 400-6400 BC). These two samples will serve as indicators as to the value of future analyses for samples collected from hearth fill. Recovery of pollen and starches might identify possible plant resources available to the occupants of this site.

POLLEN, PHYTOLITH, STARCH, AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSES AND AMS RADIOCARBON DATING OF SAMPLES FROM SITE LA174561, EDDY COUNTY, NEW MEXICO (2012)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Linda Scott Cummings. Kathryn Puseman. Chad Yost.

Two fill samples from a hearth feature at site LA 174561 in Eddy County, southeast New Mexico, were analyzed for pollen, phytoliths, starches, and macrofloral remains. Charcoal fragments recovered from the macrofloral samples were submitted for AMS radiocarbon dating. In addition to the hearth, this site contains three surface scatters of thermally-altered caliche and is believed to represent a multi-use, short-term, temporary prehistoric camp used for seasonal exploitation of plant and animal...

POLLEN, PHYTOLlTH, AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT SITE CA-MNT-307, CALIFORNIA (2005)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Linda Scott Cummings. Kathryn Puseman. Jaime Dexter. Sanjay Eksambekar.

Site CA-MNT -307 is located in Monterey County, California. Archaeological investigations at this large site complex included the excavation of Locus 2 and Hole in the Wall Cave. Both of these areas have been associated with several artifacts, including a stemmed biface, lithic flakes, shell beads, and non-human bones at Locus 2, as well as shell, bone, flaked stone, fire-affected rock, charred seeds, and mortars at the cave. The site and its cultural resources are located within the...

POLLEN, PHYTOLlTH, AND PROTEIN RESIDUE ANALYSIS FOR SITES 42WS4113 AND 42WS4115,UTAH (2006)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Kathryn Puseman. Linda Scott Cummings.

Pollen, phytolith, and protein residue samples were recovered from Sites 42Ws4115 and 42Ws4113 in southwest Utah. These sites represent artifact scatters containing lithic tools, groundstone, and debitage. A mano from 42Ws4115 was washed to recover pollen, starches, and phytoliths to determine plant resources that might have been processed using the mano. A soil control in the vicinity of the mano and a general site soil control also were examined. A projectile point fragment from 42Ws4115...

POLLEN, STARCH, AND MACROFLORAL ANALYSIS AT SITE 5LA6493, COLORADO (2006)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Linda Scott Cummings. Kathryn Puseman.

Site 5LA6493 in the Comanche National Grasslands of southeastern Colorado consists of a room block with six rooms. Charcoal from three of the rooms yielded conventional radiocarbon ages of 990 ± 40 BP (Room 1), 1080 ± 40 BP (Room 2) and 1090 ± 40 BP (Room 5). Various samples have been submitted at different times for analysis. This report is a compilation of the work done at these various times. Five pollen and three macrofloral samples were submitted and examined in 2005. Soil samples...

STRATIGRAPHIC POLLEN ANALYSIS AT THE RATTLESNAKE SOUGH SITE, 34GR4, OKLAHOMA (2006)
DOCUMENT Full-Text Linda Scott Cummings.

Fifteen samples collected stratigraphically from the Rattlesnake Slough site (34GR4) were examined for pollen. Nine of the samples represent a column collected from Test Unit 2 as contiguous 10 cm block samples. Two soil dates anchor the bottom and top of the area sampled in TU 2 as 8200 ± 100 BP and 6080 ± 110 BP, respectively. A modern surface sample also was examined. The remaining 5 samples were collected in 5 cm increments from soil core #3. A radiocarbon age of 9730 ± 60 BP was...
