On November 23, 2003 Doug Gann, an archaeologist who had worked with the Arizona State Museum Homolovi Project reported to the Homolovi Ruins State Park staff an incident at Homolovi IV on the west side where a large sandstone boulder (estimated at 7 x 5 x 3 meters and 260 tons) recently slid down from the top of the mesa.
